Are the files still being referenced by LF Rob?

Hi Rob,

A quick search revealed this thread;

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8569464

Might be worth a go if you haven’t already rebooted.

I had something similar happen to me whereby I deleted a file and like you when I navigated to another location and returned to the recently deleted location it was still there. I got an error message when I tried to delete it again suggesting it couldn’t be deleted because it didn’t exist 😒 I fixed it by temporarily removing a location from the file browser and then adding it again. Maybe as Dave suggested, some app has a lock on the file.

Hope the man flu gets better.🤧

Glenn.

Thank you Glenn,

Man flu, sluggish head, I battled it out with files app / photo app / ping pong back and fourth - but the link you kindly provided shares my thoughts.

OS, or they say in the Apple page iOS 13 appears not to be deleting files.
This probably explain why the HD been fattening up some what recently.

If it helps anyone I had already made a hard reset, files still remained intact in files app.

OS 13th Friday bad luck until the bugs are fixed.

Thank you for the link Glenn.

Regards Rob

Hi Dave,

I think you mean with LF open can I see the files here ?
If so no.
Reason I deleted them in LF and later go to file app to clean out.
Maybe when I remember, hence I go wow 126 projects, select all delete.

Glenn kindly posted a link, same conversation it would appear.
Kind of like my chest infection, bleeding horrible glad no one else has it.
But of course a few others have.

I would say the issues with Apple os at this stage, talking with other developers Apple made some moves.
These did not go down so well with the developers and caused more un pains work and time lost to present the same as before.

So I am confident the issues will soon be fixed.

I include two images.
Maybe of some use to those in the knowledge.

Regards Rob

Rob, did you try removing the “On My iPad” from the file app.

I think the issue here is that the files app thinks the files still exist in the recently deleted folder, so somewhere the details for the file still exist in a “cache” and the files doesn’t physically eat up your storage space.

I tried to delete a file from the recently deleted files folder, and it got stuck like yours has, but after persisting (repeat trying) it got removed. It does seem to be a bug in either the OS or the files app. I got better consistent results by removing the “On My iPad” location from the files app, then navigate to the recently deleted folder and delete the files, then add the location back to the files app and the files didn’t reappear.

Given the error messages your seeing, it’s very much like the iPad can’t open an associated app when you try to unzip in LF or move the file back to its original location because it can’t find the file, a bit like a PC file allocation table whereby there’s an entry in the database but the file has been deleted.

Glenn.

I've been having this issue since the first beta on IOS13, it's still there. After a while (days/weeks/new builds) it will go away, but I can't figure out what the trigger is.

Thank you for the replies Bill and Glenn,

Glenn I am not too clear what "“On My iPad” from the file app."

I agree the files are not recoverable as they are not there, quick obvious question, if files are not there.
Why is the system HD showing no reduced space when I delete the files?

Same question in photo app.
I delete a folder, it does not appear in app photo bin.

If I delete a single video from a folder, it appears in app photo bin.

Bin can be emptied and system confirms more space.

Dave I can now confirm LF is not seeing the zip older projects.

Re start 3 times hold command/ shirt P R and zap parameters, wonder if that can be done on OS with blue tooth hardwired ?

Regards Rob

Ok Rob, I just wondered in case LF had somehow 'locked' them (didn't think it should)
