Hello everybody, I am currently using LumaFusion on an iPad 6th generation which works surprisingly good with 4K 100mbit GoPro footage but I want to upgrade my iPad. Since I have some trouble with the Apple camera adapter to get my external drives work reliable, I want to switch to an iPad with USB-C. Now with the new iPad Air there are two options available and I don’t want to spent all my money on an iPad. No I wonder what hardware properties are more important to decide which iPad to be future proof. The new iPad Air seems to have a much better single core performance than the Pro. But in multi core performance the Pro is still better. Also the Air has 4GB RAM while the Pro has 6GB. Would be nice if someone from LumaFusion can say if single core or multi core performance is more important and how the RAM size comes into play? Thanks, Orci |

The general rule of thumb is: Bigger is better Bigger is more expensive Just because it’s bigger are you going to use those features Nothing is future proof See what Apple announce today (I’m getting the new iPad Air 256 as soon as it’s available because that will fulfill my needs) |

I had hope for a more technical answer than bigger is better. If LumaFusion is single threaded there is no need for high multi core performance. Or that from your development you have some numbers about RAM usage. Like if you have a project with 4K footage and you are doing 30min projects that RAM size would be best. But maybe at least you can share your experience with new iPad Air when Apple will finally make it available. |

If you're working with multiple layers of video in a project (particularly if you use more than 3), then the multi-core performance will have a bigger impact, and the same goes for extra memory when using multiple streams of 4k video. However, I would say the new iPad Air would be a great system performance-wise at the price (definitely go for 25GB storage) |

First reviews showed, that the iPad Air 4 outperformed the iPad Pro 2018 and 2020. So if you go and buy an iPad Air 4 you will have the strongest iPad on the market yet. ![]() |

Got my iPad Air 4 today I had an iPad Pro Previously New Air definitely 'feels slicker' of the two but I haven't had the chance to do a big edit yet |

Please report back on your impressions! And, could you expand on “feels slicker?”

Hello Dave, What’s your experience with the Air meanwhile? Which iPad Pro version do you used before? Thanks, Orci |
