I edit huge projects on Lumafusion 3.0. I might be pushing LF a little hard on my 2020 iPad Pro

File issues I've encountered...

I have clips on the timeline that I edited and played back fine, then a few days later its a black screen with no audio. The thumbnail is black with a "no entry" sign icon. In Lumafusion the info was there: framerate, resolution, audio. going into the FILES app, these clips are Zero KB or just a few MB. The clips are distributed throughout the timeline.

Freeing up unused files removed ALL the footage from just ONE of my current projects - the project is there, but the media isn't. OUCH. I'll copy those again to the imported footage folder. Fingers crossed. :o

The importing now seems to append a -1 to file names, eg "movie-1.mp4". It started doing that only recently. Not an issue, but I'll have to rename those hundred or so MP4s to match. :(

OK this is disastrous.
This project has like 900 edits. I copied in the files that were deleted as “unused footage”. Instead of the clips being missing and found again, they’ve all been replaced with “blank.mov”.

All the project backups are dated NOW, like there’s no backup from before this horror show.

Consolidating just created 120 of these blank.mov files.

Please, please, please help.

EDIT: I’ve sent a message via the “contact us” option on the website.

I’m proactive.

Basically it’s weeks of work at stake, so after a sleepless night I have a solution.

I went through each of the lost clips that had been replaced by a “blank.mov” and matched the original clip name to the errant blank clip. I made a big list. There’s 6 pages of this.

Now what I do is go back to my original mp4s and rename those to match the “blank” that has replaced them.

126a.mp4 becomes Blank-108.mov
And so on…….

Using the files app, browse to filesext and delete the “blank”. Replace it with the renamed original.

IT WORKS

It takes a while before everything clicks back into place and I found that I needed to highlight each clip in the library before the project realised the clip had changed. I note that the aspect ratio in my case means I might have to fix the clip framing but that is doable by pasting that attribute across all the clips later.
