I thought you can just download it from the IOS App Store and it will just work. According to their announcement in Facebook, it will work as an ipad app.

I believe it was put on Facebook 2 days after my reply

However, yes, that is the theory and the intention, but read all the post

'We will continue looking into ways to ensure that the experience on macOS meets the standard we’ve set for LumaFusion on iOS.'

so it might not be a case of 'just download it'

I like LumaFusion a lot, but the reason I use it is because it’s the best iPad editing program. If I’m going to use a laptop, I’m opting for a more powerful editor.

I'd sooner plug a keyboard and mouse into the iPad pro as I don't want to lose touch - it's why I chose the iPad for production.
If Mac models added touch support, the keyboard is in the way of comfortable touch use.

Main benefit to running Lumafusion on a Mac is being able to process, re-render or edit clips and audio offline and immediately add it to a timeline.

Honestly, the idea of LumaFusion on macOS is probably the most compelling reason for me to consider a new Mac right now.

I agree it should remain an iOS-focused app - that's where it's obvious power and competitive advantage lies. That said, the flexibility to use one video editor on both tablet and desktop OSs would be sweet. Both to take advantage of the increased horsepower of the new M-series processors for exporting big projects, but also more screen real estate, and multitasking between other apps.

Probably the main advantage I can see (other than faster, more stable export of big 4K projects) would be to work seamlessly on projects on either an iPad or Mac without fuss. Unless I'm mistaken, LumaFusion currently can only work off a locally stored project file - not one on an external drive? Not sure if that's something that can be worked around into the future, but if a full project could be kept on an external drive... plug drive into Mac, work away.... plug drive into iPad, off you go, etc. I know for someone like me, who's always editing away from home, that workflow would be awesome. I'd pay extra for it too

My hope is that it is easier now to make a dedicated MacOS version of LumaFusion.

I would also pay extra for a macOS version which is optimized for use with keyboard and mouse.
Maybe starting on the iPad and finish on the Mac.

I tried a lot of video editing programs and top one priority is ease of use.
While iMovie is a very nice to use there are some limitations that are too much for me even only doing videos for private purposes.
A lot of programs have more feature but GUI or ease of use are so bad that I would not use them.

Sure you can spend a lot of money on Adobe Premiere or Final Cut but that is too much of an investment for me.

At the end I really like the ease of use LumaFusion combined with the supported editing features.
I wish there were some improvements for better ease of use like in iMovie (i.e. automatic Ken Burns effects for photos or adding one transition between every (selected) clips).

I have ordered my M1 MacMini but they say it's not coming till after Christmas

I will report back when I get it

If anyone else has any experience of M1/LF I'd be interested to see/hear it
