Has anyone had a copyright Content ID match when using the built-in royalty free music?

I got a match - and therefore the supposed composer can monetize my video on YouTube - using the Motivational Guitar track.

Is this to be expected, i.e. the included music is free to use but subject to the composer’s terms on YT use?
Or is this a incorrect Content ID match that other people are also experiencing?

Hello Jepullen,

This has happened many times using music from Music Box.
You can rightfully dispute this copyright claim. The problem is someone has wrongly created a claim based on some samples that this artist also used (and those samples can not be copyrighted by anyone)

Here also is the wording on the contract that gives you the right to use that music:

WHEREAS, the Licensee desires to obtain certain rights to the Music for using it
- Distribute as part of any Luma Touch Product
- For use buy Luma Touch Customers while creating their own video and audio productions
GRANT OF LICENSE. Paul Dobynes, MusicBox Studios owns songs "Smooth Blues Guitar” (1:18), "Bouncy TV Commercial 2” (1:10), "Sweet Melody” (3:18), "Action and Suspense Trailer” (2:06), "Dramatic Inspiration” (2:10), “Childsplay” (1:00), "Cartoon Logo” (0:11), "Upbeat Logo Reveal” (0:15) ("Music"). In accordance with this Agreement, the Copyright Owner hereby grants to the Licensee, its successors and assigns, subject to the payments set forth below, the right, license and privilege to distribute the music in any Luma Touch Product. This license also grants Luma Touch's customers the right to use the music, in whole or in part, modified or unmodified, royalty free, in their own productions created and/or edited with any LumaTouch product. Paul Dobynes, MusicBox Studios retains title and ownership of the Music.
Luma Touch customers shall have the right to record and rerecord in any geographical area, the Music only in synchronism or time relation with the audio or visual materials prepared ("production") using a Luma Touch app, and to reproduce, distribute, import and sell said production on CD-ROM, DVD or CD-I, web or electronically, throughout any geographical area.

Best,

Keith Woodard II

Thanks, that's what I suspected is happening.

Googling the problem it seems like it's common for free/CC music to end up being accidentally/maliciously claimed by someone else using all or part of the track themselves.

Even though it's not a copyright strike from YT, just a Content ID match, I'll take those license words and try and resolve it. Maybe that'll help others avoid it in future too...

I wish I knew this scam-like behavior was rampant years ago, when I got a YT hit on some royalty free music I bought, and threw it all out after complaining to the owner (who never answered)
